The Rabbit Lantern Parade.

Here's the most exciting part! The Lantern Parade!!! The parade is divided into three category. the first is the Rabbit Lantern (open for preschoolers and elementary students); the Second is the Star Lantern Parade (For High School) and the last one is the "Bangenge" Parade (open for everyone). Will discuss about the Bangenge soon..

The Rabbit Lantern is open for all Elementary students. All Elementary students were gathered from different schools. It is actually an individual competition and at the same time it is also a schools competition because at the end of the parade, the winner entry for the Lantern Parade will be declared so as the Best School presentation. Each school has their own gimmick. See the MRES in milzon's t-shirt? (you can also check it here). The MRES Stands for Manuel Rojas Elementary School and this is the school where Milzon is in. Mirasol and I were from here too!

Aside from the T-shirt, each students from MRES are required to wear this cute rabbit head gear. Actually Milzon hates it because it is too girly LOL

And so here he is!!

Here's one of the Rabbit Entries. I like this one because it was neatly done however since they The rabbit is not actually a lantern because they didn't put any light on it and since they paint it with gray, even they put lights inside, it will not be as translucent as the others.

See the Pink eared Rabbit? So cute isn't. By the way, the big girl on the front is Milzon's Teacher. Ma'm Naneth.

See that girl in the middle? She's Eliza and guess what? She's Milzon's crush haha and we used to tease him on that girl.

I love this entry. The owner of these two rabbit are twins so they make twin rabbits too! Haha actually i noticed that the girls are wearing the same clothes and shoes. So cute!

Some of the kids took some Ice cream break while their on the parade.. Mommies are so busy taking care of their kids too.

This one looks so scary but done very creatively. Look at the improvised Wheels....

Speaking of scary, we saw a giant Rabbit Lantern too!It will definitely swallow the kids whole LOL

Oh my... it was very detailed... I must salute whoever behind this rabbit.

Okay we're done with the Rabbit Parade. I will post about the Star Parade in my nxt entry so as the Bangenge Parade.

Rabbit Lantern

I just can't show the step by step illustration of our rabbit because it is quite complicated and it has so many details.

Using a copper wire we hold it and shape it like a rabbit. This will serve as the frame or the skeleton.

Then we cover it with japanese Paper to make it transluncent from the inside.

We cut small pieces of Japanese paper to make it looks like fur.

Adding more colors will make the rabbit more appealing.

Then we added small pen lights. We didn't use candle because it is quite risky.

Here i made a small wagon decorated by Poinsettia flowers to make it more Christmassy!

Then add some colordul details in the rabbit. We used pink for the ears, added carrots and reading glass.

And give him santa hat too!

The Rabbit lantern is actually worth P250- 300. And has one light only.

POPSICLE STICK LANTERN

Here's another Popsicle Stick Project! This will be the 3rd out of 6 Popsicle Project for this month. Today will show you how to make a Popsicle Stick Lantern.

We need Popsicle Sticks, Colored paper, Glue Gun, Bulb, Socket, Cord (about one yard), and a plug.

The Lantern has three parts. The Head, The body and the Base.
"BODY"
Lay out the popsicle sticks on the colored paper.
You should form four squares like this.
Let the glue dry and set them aside first.

"BASE"
Make a square base with about 3 popsicle stick high.
Then layout the popsicle stick on it to serve as the platform.


Now ask someone to fix the bulb and the cord for you. You can also buy those ready made one.
Then place the bulb in the platform by gluing the socket. Set it aside.

"HEAD"

Make a pyramid using the popsicle sticks.
You should form something like this.

"ASSEMBLING"

Cut the excess papers. Fold them to form a box.
Then glue the Head, the body and the base together.

Recycled Christmas Lantern

Our first project for this month is a recycled Christmas Lantern.

To start with, we need old Cds, Popsicle sticks, Plastic cups, Christmas garlands, and copper wire.

Glue gun the Popsicle sticks on the top of a cd. Form a star like this!

Now cover the the cd by another cd (on a flip position)

Cut a small piece of garland and attach them on each corner of our star. Use copper wire to attach the garlands on the Popsicle stick.

Make a hole on the center of our plastic cups.

Insert a copper wire inside the hole and lock it.

Attach the plastic cups at the lower part(legs of the star) of our lantern.

Attach a pair of garlands inside the plastic cups using copper wire.
There you have it, you can now hang it on your window or outside your house.
